Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag

These stars of Strickly Ballroom performed at Blackpool Tower Ballroom earlier this week.

They have been training a dozen young teenagers from an inner london school (Eltham Green) to ballroom dance over the last few weeks. The process has been filmed for Sky One. Following a show dance from Anton and Erin, the youngsters danced in pairs in front of a Big audiance  and live on camara. It was agreat evenings entertainment and should make a great TV show. It is due to be broadcast on 9th May.

This only goes to show that young people (who often get such a bad press) can achieve anything. The ‘before’ and ‘after’ images say it all. I saw the 1st programme the other night and, taking my har off to Erin and Anton throughout, I was really touched by the whole thing. The preview of the dance at Blackpool makes me determined not to miss part 2… I was practically cheering. Well done to all and congratulations to the young people who had the guts to go for it!
